Roleplay - 12th of June

The twins got quiet and crouched down like Skittles. They started creeping up behind her (not closely).

"Think she's gonna get it?" Limmerick whispered.
"Maybe. I wonder if you can eat it?"

Skittles smirked at the kits when she heard them whispering about her and if they could eat the bird. She tryed ignoring the whispers and crept closer. She faintly saw the bird pecking at the ground. She rose her haunches and sprang in the air. The bird was fluttering away. She landed and darted after it. She growled and leapt and caught its leg. She landed and put her paw on the bird. She bit its neck killing it. She walked back to Limmerick and Loki. "Well, It's a start." she put the bird at their feet. "Yes Loki, You can eat it." she squeaked.

The kits danced around, impressed. They each practice pouncing on the dead bird, just like they had seen Skittles do. "I'm going to hunt a crow, too" Loki squeaked proudly. Limmerick nodded, "Me too. We'll both be hunters."

Loki cocked his head and studied the bird. He took Skittle's word for it and bit into the bird, getting a mouthful of feathers for his trouble. He sneezed, dropped the bird, then tried to pick it up and shake it. "Loki, knock it off!" hissed Limmerick. Smelling the bird, she had discovered she was hungry, too. (the kits went two days with only a bit less than a half-mouse each to eat). "Well, you try it," Loki hissed back. Limmerick took a bite... and pulled out feathers, that stuck out of her mouth. She crunched down, then spit them out. "Ewww. I don't like crow," she squeaked. Loki snickered.

Skittles laughed. "Tell you the truth, I didn't like Crow either, but when I kept eating it I got used to it, and started liking it. You won't like the first time but when you keep trying you'll get used to it." she squeaked.

Megan squeaked, "Personally I stick to rodents and rabbits, they taste far better."

"Yeah well." Skittles squeaked. "Its good to try different things. I was just trying to show them how to catch bird anyways." she looked at Megan. "Can we please take them back to camp now?" she asked.

Loki started pawing at the feathers, like he was digging. Feathers started flying everywhere! Finally, he got to the skin, and bit into it. "There's a lot of bones," he commented, swallowing a bite of meat. "Tastes like chicken." ( )

Limmerick pushed Loki a little, "Let me try."
"Hey! I was eating that!" he pushed Limmerick.

Limmerick sighed. "How do you get the meat?" she asked.

Megan sighed, "Okay okay, how about we drag it back to the burrow and you can finish it later."

Cracker Jack jumped up and down on the dead crow, "It would make a fine feather pillow!"

Loki stopped his fericious attack on the bird feathers, "Did you say mouse?" he asked Megan. "They taste good," Limmerick commented. "Can we get mouse to eat?" the twins asked together.

Loki and Limmerick both started giggling at CJ.

Megan smiled, "Okay, but first you must know the basic rules of the wild, number 1, ANY species can do you harm, this crow was just a chick, still fairly small, an adult could be just as dangerous as a bird of prey if you don't take proper caution."

Skittles looked at them. "You sure are hungry! Lets get back to the burrow first then you can eat." she squeaked. "I want to show you my favorite place to play!" she squeaked happily. She turned to Cracker Jack. "I don't think you'd be joining us, But you'd be welcome if you want to." she turned back to Megan and the twins.

Cracker Jack shouted at Skittles, "ARE YOU CRAZY!?! OF COURSE I WANNA PLAY!"

The twins looked thoughtful. "Anything?" they asked.

"How do you know what type of caution to take?"

Limmerick leaned up against Megan. "It's pretty scary." she said

"He's always hungry," Limmerick teased. "But I am too."

"Can we eat something and then go play," Loki asked hopefully?

"Once we reach the burrow," Megan again, headed off toward the burrow.

Cracker Jack began dragging the crow chick after her.

Skittles followed. She had alot of energy. "I could run all day and still not get tired! Thats how much energy I have!" she squeaked happily.

Loki and Limmerick followed Megan. Limmerick giggled at Skittles, "Can we play tag later?"

Megan squeaked, "there is the burrow, that is where we sleep and where kits stay before they are old enough to come outside. If you are curious, we currently have 7 other kits below ground."

Loki looked back at Cracker Jack and thought dragging the crow looked like fun. He ran back and grabbed part of the crow and enthusiastically "helped" pull the crow.

"Will we be allowed outside," Limmerick asked? "I already killed a mouse."

Loki heard this and let go of the bird, "No you didn't. I did."

"Did not" "Did too" (here we go again)

Megan smiled, "Yes but you must always have an older ferret nearby in case of an emergancy."

The twins stopped their "argument," almost forgetting they had asked the question.

"Does Skittles count? She said she'd teach us to hunt."


(truth is- the killed mouse was more luck than skill. One of the twins damaged a main vein on the mouse and it bled to death. Otherwise, it would have gotten away. But, we don't have to tell them that.)

"No." Sparkle said. He didn't say it, but he didn't trust Skittles not to lead the kits into a creek, or confince them playing in the rain was the best kind of fun.

Megan looked to them, "Sparkle is right, Skittles still needs to be watched herself."

"You have to be with an adult." Sparkle said.

The kits looked disappointed. "But, who's gonna teach us how to hunt? Skittles promised." Limmerick asked. Loki sighed, "Yeah. I wanna learn."

Sparkle laughed. "Adult's know how to hunt too. But if you really want Skittles to teach you, one of the adults will come and stay nearby while she teaches you." Sparkle said.

The kits bounced excitedly. They looked towards the burrow hole, then took off running towards it, excited about a snack, playing, and learning to hunt!

Sparkle smiled and ran after them.

Starlight saw them coming and smiled to them. "Shhh, the little ones are still sleeping," Starlight whispered and went back below ground.
